During study of the dynamics of rotation we introduce the concept of moment of inertia of a rigid body about an axis of rotation and then particularized for those with symmetry about the axis. The formulas for calculating the moments of inertia of these bodies are used in solving problems, but it is important to provide students the method to determine experimentally and to verify the theoretical expressions. This is precisely the goal commonly designed for lab intended for such purposes.
